What is Startup Orange County?

Startup Orange County is a springboard to get the business you are dreaming about formed and funded. This two-phase program includes a weekend-long event that will match startups with successful entrepreneurs and business coaches to create more successful ventures. Companies will compete for a total of $50,000 in cash and services with the top companies collectively receiving $30,000 and two years of free space in the UCF Technology Incubator along with other professional services and guidance.

How this is made possible

Orange County, Florida has had an interest in fostering entrepreneurship for a very long time. Each year the Orange County government is responsible for providing support to several entrepreneurial and economic development agencies in the surrounding area. Many of the economic development entities of the University of Central Florida are included in this county government support and are provided funding by the government in order to grow the local economy by creating new businesses, bolstering existing businesses and ultimately creating new jobs by ensuring the success of local companies.

 

The UCF Venture Lab, one of the UCF economic development agencies, is able to create and carry out the Startup Orange County program due to the support received from its local government. Thank you Orange County, Florida and everyone should be proud to live in a county with such a growing interest in fostering entrepreneurism and innovation.
